What'S'that guy doing? Throwing a watermelon. What for? The Lambda Chi Alpha Watermelon Bust. Another tradition? Yes - they have contest and choose the Watermelon Bust Queen. Really? Do they throw the watermelons at her? Very funny? Here's somebo'dy's poor idea of a joke about them. About who? The freshwomen. What about the owl? The owl - oh, I guess that's a wishfuI-thinking tradition. So is virginity traditional or not? I dontt know.DePauw is funny that way. I never figured it out exactly. Who are all these guys? They look like athletes. I don't remember any of them. You're right, tho ugh, they do look like athletes. Yes, as though they're used to having their pic- tures taken. You know what they're doing? W hat? Sitting on the Union Building steps looking at the fresh men women. They certainly are in- tent.

A marching band! That dates you. And the U-Shop. That building burnt down in the fall of my senior year. There was an all-night bakery there too. It was a shock to see it go. That's a shame. What's the big building in back? The Science Center. Brand new then. it looks a little out of place. Sort of. A cheerleader. I wonder if they still have them? Probably. Lots of crowd appeal. Guess so. That's the owl. Where is it? Right below East College. They must have taken this picture from inside the building. Does the owl mean anything. What? Like the Boulder. Oh, they used to say if a girl who was a virgin walked by it it would hoot. What about boy virgins? I don't know. Here's a football game for you. Did you ever go? Sometimes. For the big games. Would you be in this picture? I don't know. ' I don't see you anywhere, but I really don't knowwhat you looked like then. Oh, about the same. Balding? Haw haw.

'This is the first picture of anyone studying that I've seen. Oh, we did that a lot, too. When I went to school that was ALL we did. An all-girl's school, what else? What do you mean what else? What else is there to do? There was an army base in town. So you ran around with soldiers and lstudied my brains out. You probably froze them running around the Boulder. Ah, graduation. You must have seen the President again then? I wasn't in the ceremony. I didn't know that. Why not? Oh, just general reasons. Hot robes and speeches. Is that all? Well, perhaps I was a little rebellious. For me, just the ceremony didn't make any difference. A country road. A country run. The road of life? I suppose so. Yearbooks always have to have a road of life picture, don't they? Seems that way. What is it that they're trying to do, do you think? Oh, just make people remember a little of what they used to be, I suppose. Maybe. Do you have an old college yearbook? Oh, buried somewhere. Well, dig it out.
