The Student Senate, DePauwis student governing body, is the latest of numerous attempts to rid the campus of political caucuses, having succeeded the Student Council, which had ruled supreme for nine years before the Senate Was instituted. Composed of at least one senator from each hall of residence, on the basis of an eligible membership of fifty, the Senate lists as its duties the election of officers of the senior class and the appointment of freshman, sophomore and junior class com- mittees. The Senate meets once each month to discuss imminent campus affairs, and the public is invited to attend at any time. The organization is perhaps best known on the campus for its successful sponsorship of the all-university dances which are given frequently throughout the year. Officers for this year were: Franklin Tooke, president; Helen Kimberlin, viCe-pres- ident; Miriam Dumbauld, secretary; Thurlow Stone, treasurer.
