This was a true picture of the l'Big Blue five. The team was a combination of good ball handlers and agile shooters, The speed which they lacked was made up for by their height. When the league season rolled around, the Demons found out that they were without the services of two of their first stringers, who had ioined the lunior squad, As this change took place at a very inopportune time, the first round of league games saw many changes ,n the starting lineup, The standings at the end of the iirst round showed the Red and Blue Demons in 6th place Finally the De Paulites found themselves, For the next four games the Quintet was the hotest teazr. in the Catholic League, A small St. Patricks gym and a great St. lgnatius learn was all that kept the Demons out of third place and a playeoff berth ln the final standings De Paul ranked fourth, one game out of third place. Although short and light, he proved himself worthy of a lst string berth in his freshman year. The following year he captained the lunior squad through a successful season. ln his third year, he again was awarded captaincy of the lunior squad and a place on the second team of the Catho- lic league, as well as lst string on the North Section Team. This year he was unanimously chosen as captain of the Senior quintet but was switched to the lunior team to strengthen its chances tor a championship. Because of Heine's fine showing in the Fenwick Tourn- ament he was nominated for the Fenwick All Tourney Team. a brilliant showing as a member of the first string on the North Section team which defeated the South Section All Stars. Again this year Heine made the All Catholic team but this time it Was the first string. Later in the season he was chosen for second string on the All-City Team. Heine received these honors not because he is a high scorer, but because he is one of the greatest ball handlers and floor generals the city has ever seen.
