T)e£ci uC- 20e£ct Mt SeAoo£ 9X5- 9X6 The year of 1985-86 was a year full of joys, tragedies , and world-wide excitement. Some of the things that happened around the world were: The tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger, which we recognized by lowering the flag to half- mast. This year also included many fund-raising events. Among these were Live Aid, which beamed 60 major bands to a billion people. Farm Aid was held in Champaign, IL. to raise money for America ' s Farmers. Hands Across America, which passed by Del and- Weldon High School, was organized to raise money for America s poor. Our school year was also filled with success, losses, and ex- citement. The play “ Deadly Earnest ” was a smashing success. Kenny Parish, our custodian of 34 years, retired. A mural was painted on the library wall by the Art I class. The J.V. volleyball team received second place in the Conference. Overall, we had an exciting year and have many memories to hold on to. 1. Neely Reeser and Melainie Carr show excitement at winning a volleyball game. 2. Rhonda Adkins is hard at work. 3 . Ruby Heiberg and Kenny Blaze k have some fun in between classes. 4. Nikki Wingstrom gives Brian Eatock a big friendly hug. 1. The flag is at half-mast after the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. 2. The Spanish Club enjoys a feast after laboring away in the kitchen. 3 ■ Chris Reeser and Shannon Clark still have smiles on their faces after Slave Day. 4. Sophomores goof off during P.E. 3. The baseball team enjoys an ex- citing game. 3 0 Ke uuf ' Pa mia i etine After thirty-four years at Del and- Weldon We, the yearbook staff, dedicate the 1985-86 yearbook to you. “ For Him Shining blue eyes Pretty blond hair Touching so many But no longer there . . . Our nation will think of ' 85- ' 86 as the year the space shuttle Challenger exploded , the Bears won the Super Bowl , and Hands Across America touched the hearts of everyone . We, too, remember these things; but we also recall studying, caring, working, winning, and sometimes losing as we shared our days together at D- W. These moments we have tried to cap- ture in a treasure chest of memorabilia. Examine each page carefully — smile and Remember When. 2 . 3 . 4. 5 - 70 1.
