Eand Marches in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Parades The band had another successful year. Numbers may have been small, but the power was still there. The year began in August with a week-long camp. The year also began with a new director, Terri Huff. The first march- ing competition was held at U. of I. on October 10. The band did very well in both field and show competition. The next competition was at I.S.U. on October 24. The band received first place in field competition. Students attended solo and ensemble contest again this year. The band attended organizational contest on April 17. A first place rating was received. Some of the students also attended E.I.U. Honor Band held at Charleston on May 7. The day was filled with hard work. A Christmas and a spring concert were given. Many varieties of music were performed. The highlight of the year was the invitation to march in the Philadelphia, Pa. and the Washington, D.C. In- dependence Day parades. Students worked hard to raise enough money to go. The trip was from July 2 through July 7. Kevin Kizer, Drum Major; Sherri Baker, Captain of the Guard; Joni Brian, Assistant Drum Major; Ken Kizer, Percussion Leader. 8
