Our Illustrious Leader, Mr. Kimmitt Band Played at Assembly Hall This year has proved to be another successful one for the Band. They began last summer with a marching band camp. The camp proved to be a success because the Band again won the Class D State Championship at I.S.U. and Class D at E.I.U. Most band members feel that the highlight of the marching season was to come within V2 of a point of being one of ten finalists at the I.S.U. competi- tion. That is the closest a class D band has ever come to making finals. Each band member also participated in the solo and ensemble contest at Millikin University. The band traveled to Millikin once again to compete in the organizational contest. Some of the upper class band members partici- pated in the E.I.U. Honor Band. Also held this year was the S.V.C. Honor Band. Several of the stu- dents took part in this. The pep band also did very well this year. They once again played on D-W night at Parkland, and they also played at the Assembly Hall for the Girls’ State Tournament. Congratulations to the band on a great year and good luck for next year!
