I dedication He ' s the man for all seasons. Coach Clifford Dobbs is always here when you need him the most. He has a question for every answer and a problem for every solution. Coach Dobbs has led our baseball and football teams to many proud and deserving vic- tories. His determination to make things right is shown both on and off the playing field. The members of the Senior Class are grateful for Debbie ' s” helping hand and the ad- vice he has given us through this last year of our high school days. Not only has the class of ' 69 appreciated him as a coach and teacher but most of all for being a bus driver, cupid, statistician, scorekeeper, reporter, class advisor, doctor, lifeguard, camera fixer, chaperone, banker, and last but not least, a true-blue friend to the MAD, MAD, MAD, Seniors. 6 Q£T R£ADV FOR, A MAD MAD YSAR,! 8 STANDING: Lester Baker, John Leischner, Ronnie Edwards, Duane Riddle. WHITSON - Superintendent To the Student Body - As you thumb” through this yearbook you will be reminded of a very suc- cessful school year. Each of you contributed toward this success. Therefore, STU- DENTS ... This is Your Year To each of you, may this volume of pictorial presentation add reminiscence to your future. Sincerely, Perry E. Whitson Superintendent MRS. MARIE WHITE Secretary II ESTHER FLOYD ROBERT L. BOWEN - Principal Dear Students: In this book you will find a sampling of the educational experiences on DeLand- Weldon High School in 1968-69. I use the word “sampling because only a small por- tion of your education can be shown by pictures and words. Many, many things happen in the classroom and outside of school that are educational. By putting all of your experiences together, each of you receive an education. What is the value of an education? Playwright Thornton Wilder says: “Education is the bridge man crosses from the self- endorsed, self-favoring life, into the consciousness of the entire community of mankind. Each student builds his own bridge. What each student does with his education depends on his “consciousness of the community of mankind. I sincerely hope that in the years ahead you, as graduates, will cross the bridge to improve the “Community of mankind. Please accept my best regards to the number one stu- dent body in Illinois. By the middle of June the D-W Eagle baseball team had a record of 4-2, so they were starting the season off in the right spirit. This page sponsored by DEAN’S CAFE and FARMER CITY ELEVATOR 35 This page sponsored This year the Eagles are vying for their third straight conference title, and are determined to be the first champions of the new summer baseball program. The Eagles are fielding an experienced team this year with seven seniors in their starting lineup. They are a strong hitting ball club, and make few mistakes in the field. Their over- all balance should make them sure bets for the championship. CURT PARRISH Center Field ROD FOSTER Third Base by MR.
