Dedication We, the seniors of 64 wish to dedicate the ‘64 EAGLE to Donald Moody, our English Teacher. For his good sense of humor and in- teresting approach to the world of literature, we wish to show our appreciation. Mr. Moody came with us and saw us through four years of high school. As our sponsor when we were freshmen and now as our Guidance Counselor, he has helped us to do many things and has helped many of us to decide what our future will be.

Superintendent’s Message Each individual progresses in life through a succession of teachers and each new mind we approach seems to require an abdication of part of our past and present pos- sessions. Every mind is offered its choice between truth and letargy. You must choose-you can never have both. Most often we vacillate between the two, never quite attaining either. If lethargy predominates, we accept the first creed, the first philosophy, the first political party we meet. We get rest, we exist, we have a good time, but we shut the door of truth. If the love of truth predominates, we will abstain from dogmatism, we will submit to the inconvenience of suspense and imperfect opinion, but we will feel a sense of fulfillment that is unequalled. If we are to learn truth we must communicate. We must learn the language of facts. The most wonderful inspirations die with their subject if we cannot interpret them to ourselves and to others. We are all wise. The difference between persons is not in wisdom but in art; and the art of communication is the goal of education. I may truly say to the students of DeLand-Weldon High, “I am present at the sowing of the seed of the world. ’ You will determine the fruit ofthisseedby your wise or other- wise decision.
