CONTENTS ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES ACTIVITIES CLASSES ATHLETICS ADVERTISERS ANNUAL STAFF Joyce Madden, Layout Manager; Laraine Johnson, Layout Manager; Barbara Huisinga, Assistant Business Manager; Duane Riddle, Jr. , Editor; Ray Hoops, Business Manager; John Gantz, Editor-in-Chief; Steve Railsback, Advertising Manager. We the Spotlight Staff of 58 present this yearbook in the hope that it will be a substantial contribution to the memories you will take from your days at the DeLand-Weldon Senior High School into later life. We hope it shall always serve as a reminder of the friends with whom you have lost contact and of the good times shared with them. “OUR SCHOOL” Within the walls of Our School can be found the offices and organizations sim- ilar to those of a smalltown. The Principalhas somewhat the same duties as a Mayor; the School Secretary, those of a City Clerk; the Student Council, composed of repre- sentatives of the classes, is comparable to the City Council. You, the boys and girls from the farms and from town, the self-assured Sophomores stumbling up the steps for the first time; the cocksure Juniors, and the worldly Seniors, are the citizens of Our School. Each day entering the doors of the DeLand-Weldon Senior High School, you come into a place of learning, not only in in tellectual subjects; but also in many others that will help you to be better citizens of America. You learn to co-operate with your fellow students, to help the person across the aisle, or to be helped. You study, laugh, play, work, and feel emotions of loyalty, pride in success, and regretfulness in failure as your neighbors. Here in the classrooms of Our School, you spend the hours that will equip you for your place in the world. May the memory of these hours remain with you always, become more vivid upon reflection, and help you to recall and relive many of your experiences with your fellow students in DeLand-Weldon High School.
