W. RULE, A. BURGESS, N. MORFEY, G. ELLER Senior Class History Our class of thirty-four green Sophomores was initiated into the Senior High in the fall of ' 51. In November, Keith Barnes joined our class in our active Sophomore year. Returning to school as Juniors, we found that during the summer we had lost two of our classmates. Our Junior year was full of excitement as we presented our play, The Mad Hatters, and ordered our class rings. In January, Orville Lansford was welcomed to our class. We were greatly honored by having two members of our class, Darman Clifton and Bill Ted Webb, on the basketball team that went all the way to win second in the Sectional Tourney. Also Dennis Lisenby, another member of our class, won first in the State Contest with his piano solo. The final event of our Junior year was our prom for which we chose Hawaiian Night” as our theme. We started our Senior year off with a bang by thirty-three hard-working Seniors making a big success of selling ads for our annual and sponsoring initiation. We were very sorry to leam that two of our former classmates had left us and would not be able to share the joy of our Senior year with us. Our next big event was Senior pictures and ordering graduation invitations. We all worked very hard to put out a fine annual. The final event of our school life will be graduation. Then we will say farewell to our classmates, who have shared the joy and happiness of our high school life with us, and wish all of them success and good luck always in the future.

Senior Class Will We, the eminent Senior Class of De Land -Weldon Senior High School, being of sound mind and exceedingly sharp memory, do hereby swear this to be our last will and testament being incom- parable to any such will ever created before this twenty-eighth day of September in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Three. We, the Senior Class, bequest to the Sophomores our co-operativeness and ability to get along with the rest of school and the teachers. To the Junior Class we bequest our ability of never giving up until we have reached our goal and have outdone all other attempts at such doings. To the whole school unit we bequest our wisdom, wit and zeal in hopes that they don ' t keep it as well hidden as we have. To the faculty we will our deepest sympathies for losing such a stately and upright class. To the Juniors, we, the Seniors, do bequest the following: Alma Jean Grant wills her shorthand ability to Ethel Lois Reynolds and Ethie, please don ' t let shame fall on it. Ovilene Floyd wills her giggle to George Massey in hopes that he can control it better than she did sometimes. Ruby Stone wills her diamond to Kay Floyd. Doris Svestka wills her dimples to Dean Smith, may they look as good on him as they did on her. Dolores Olson wills her cornet ability to Ethel Lois Reynolds. Wilma Rule wills her freckles to Steve Swanstrom. Lou Emma Norfleet wills her love for square dancing to Donald Fugate. Marlene Meyer wills her forgetfulness to Dean Smith in hopes that he will always remember what she forgot. Nancy Seal wills her nickname Popsicle to Lois Roberts and may she never let it melt. Delores Sparks wills her abhorrence of the opposite sex to Norma Folioweli. Alice Leevey wills her Levis’ to Katy King in hopes that Katy will will them out as well as she did. Dorothy Carr wills her bow legs to Lois Roberts, Barbara Nichols wills her ability to crack caps in shorthand class to Mary Ellen Remmers in hopes they bring her as close to the teacher as they did her. Shirley Helton leaves the west end of the upper hall to Helen Carr - memories. Norma June Morfey leaves her Little Blue Book to Mary Weaver and hopes that Mary will get as much good out of it as she did. Dewey Roberts leaves his track ability to Philip (Flash) Lisenby. Darman Clifton wills his Ford to Helen Carr and hopes it will get her as far as it did him. Claudine Stine wills his whiskers to Jack Behrens. Jim Norton bequeaths his nickname Super-Rat to Jim Schutte. Orville Lansford wills his ability to chew gum in school and not get caught to Edna Svestka. Russ Folioweli leaves Lizzy to Dallas Shaw; Dallas, take good care of her. Andy Burgess wills to Max Swartz his ability to skip school and hopes Max will have as much fun doing it as he did. Mamie Clifton wills her athletic and skating techniques to Katy King. Anne Reeser leaves her size 9i feet to Carl Tudor and may he carry them gracefully. Gladys Eller wills her pony tail to Bob Jones. Stewart Allan wills to Jack Goodmon his habit of always getting his lessons on time. Bob Sprague wills his ability to stay home every night to Flash Lisenby. Denny Lisenby wills his piano ability to Jack Behrens and may he use it to the best of his technical knowledge. Phyllis Long wills her nickname Frostie to Tom Reynolds so he will always be cool, calm and collected. Sally Maden leaves her long red hair to Gene Spellbring. Jerry Schroeder wills his book iarnin and intelligence back to the teachers. Bob Stone wills his forehead curls to Leota Jiles. Bill Ted Webb leaves his basketball ability to Jack Knisley and we hope Jack will use it as well as Bill did.
