IN MEMORIAM In memory of Prrvate Donn W Mason of the class of 1950 who gave hrs l1fe rn the servrce of h1s country March 16 1953 at Fort Campbell Kentucky Donn was the son of Mr and Mrs Alec Robertson of Dayvrlle and had attended Dayvrlle schools srnce he was rn the 7th grade He was born at Prarrre C1ty Oregon Aprrl 21 1932 In school he was a leader rn all act1v1t1es especral ly rn musrc and sports Followlng graduatron he attended O S C for one term He made hrs home wrth hrs parents on the1r ranch near Dayvrlle and hrs ambrtron was to have a ranch of hrs own In Novem ber 1952 he enlrsted rn the arrborn lnfantry and was rnducted at Borse Idaho November 20 He was assrgned to the 188th Arrborne Infantry Regrment and was 1n trarmng at Fort Campbell Kentucky at the trme of lus death when a truck rn whrch he was r1d1ng crashed mto a rarlroad abuttement resultlng rn the death of srx soldrers and 1nJur1es to 38 others He was burred wrth full mrlrtary honors rn Canyon C1ty Oregon cemetery March 22nd 1953 He IS sur vrved by hrs parents and one brother Davrd Mason of the Umted States A1r Force other relatrves and a host of frrends who w1l1 never ceaseto mourn hrs unumely death Hrs frlendly personalrty endeared hrm to young and old alrke I cannot say and l w11l not say That he IS dead He rs just away Wxth a cheery smrle and a wave of the hand He has wandered mto an unknown land Tlunk of hrm farmg on as dear In the love of There as love of Here Thmk of lum srrll the same I say He IS not dead He IS just away I W Rlley I 1 1 1 ' . . , ' 1 1 1 - - . . . - 1 1 ' 1 0 1 1 x ' 1 1 1 , . an ' 1 - 1 1 1 1 . . . ,, I n
