Sophomore News The Sophomore class officers for T951-T952 were as follows: Presi- denf-Alfred Cofham. Vice-Presidenf-Gar Wyllie, Secrefary-Treasurer -Willis Laughlin, Advisor-Dave Hawk. They were picked from an en- rollmenf of 'ren sfudenfs. Alfhough Donna Jo Wham leff us before long. our counf didn'1' decrease. because Ann Russell, from Spray. soon joined our liH'le group. Sophomore acfivifies for fhe year mainly consisfed of fhe Freshman inifiafion parfy and fhe Freshman-Sophomore fug-of-war. The Freshman parfy was a howlin success-yes. l do mean howling. I don'f believe fhey liked our refresffwmenfs. The 'rug-of-war was a friumph for fhe Sopho- mores: fherefore. if was a success foo. Ofher acfivifies in which fhe Sophomores pla ed a prominenf parf were: baskefball, volleyball, paper sfaff, annual sfallf. and fhe Girls' League Play. Class members are as follows: SiHin : Willis Laughlin. Gary Wyllie, Alfred Cofham, and Mr. Hawk. Sfangingz Barbara Sopher, Lore'H'a Music. Allen Barry. Jess Osfer, Boyd Keefon. and Kearney George. L Freshman News Affer inifiafion was over. The Freshmen had a very good year. Every- one dreaded inifiafion unfil fhe fime we dressed up, buf fhen we found if was fun fo a cerfain degree. The fug-of-war befween fhe Freshmen and fhe Sophomores didn'+ furn ouf foo well for fhe Rooks, buf all Soph's seemed fo be happy. Firsf 'rhey made us dig a french, fhen fill if full of wafer. Affer 'rhaf was fin- ished, we had fo gef in fhe mud and mix if up wifh our bare feef. Then came fhe fun. Bare-foofed and all, we had fhe fug-of-war. The Sopho- mores pulled us Through fhe mud. buf fhey didn'f fhink we were muddy enough so fhey made us sif in if. The Freshman refurn parfy furned ouf very successfully. Everyone played games and afferwards afe ice cream and pie. During fhe year we have had fhree new sfudenfs ioin our class: Mar- gorie Vernwald. Karen Cress and Dean Downing. Class members in fhe picfure af leff are: Siffingz Terry Perkins. Grefa Humphreys. Glee Craig, Mr. Hawk. Sfanding: Joan Mefcalf. Richard Per ins, Paf Shroyer, Mary Jo Garrison, Jim Barr and Lillamay Mascall.

Perhaps fhe greafesf fhrill of fhe year was when fhe boys marched oul' onfo fhe baskefball floor in fheir sparkling blue uniforms. Baskefball and volleyball provided fhe main pasfime buf Chrisfmas and assembly programs. plus holiday parfies, also keep sfudenfs on fhe jump. The nexf few monfhs will find everyone busy wifh soffball and frack 'rhen will come fhe biggesf evenf of all for fhe Eighfh Graders- Graduafion on May 97fh. 275 255 4 Fif+h and Six'l'h lsf row: Lee Goodman. Lawayne Hampfon, Mary Norfh and Sandra Simmons. Absenl' was Donald Franke. Under fhe very capable direcfion of Mrs. Helen Miller fhe Fif+h and Sixfh Grades had an enjoyable year. These sfudenfs gave fhe second all- school assembly program besides faking parf in fhe Chrisfmas program. Ofher evenfs included Hallowe'en. Valenfine and Chrisfmas parfies, along wifh cake and candy sales.
