Prophecy of The Class of 1952 As 1 pushed The buTTon and braced myself againsT The impacT of The Take off, I wondered whaT would be in sTore for us in The year 1980. The presenT year was 1956 and I had iusf been awarded a Trip wiTh The gen- ious of scienTific mechanics, Marion L. Huff. who had iusT complefed The space and Time machine in which we were Traveling. The wind shrieked around our sphere-like vehicle and I noTiced ThaT The soliosofo e screen was becoming a hazy green which grew gradually deeper and finally be- gan blinking DAYVILLE, OREGON. In anoTher few minuTes we had reached our desTinaTion and we alighfed from our machine To find our- selves on Casey's Slide overlooking The Wesfern Mefropolis which was once our liTTle home Town. We Took a Taxi To The Town hall where we found a greaT convenfion Taking place-Reunion: Class of 1952. Dayville High School. We in- Troduced ourselves and were seafed aT a Table where we enioyed a deli- cious meal of broiled Thumpcaf, an almosf exTincT animal found only in Murderer's Creek. A bell was sounded as The presidenT of The Unifed STaTes, an old and decrpif man, was helped To a sfanding posiTion and we finally recog- nized him as Lewell P. Gilham, our beloved English Teacher of 1952. He said he was cerTainly sorr buf he jusf couldn'T speak Tonighf because his back was paining him piTiTyully. Our Train of Thoughf was inTerrupTed by a shrill. high voice: we Turned and a beaufiful woman swepT by us gliTTering wiTh gold and jewels. Thinking she looked familiar, I asked a genfleman who she was. He re- plied Oh, ThaT is The greaTesT Mefropolifan Opera STar of all Times. Rufhy Lemberger! RuThy's career had added a liTTle weighT To her figure-in facT, she weighed a liTTle over 150 pounds, buT her 5 feeT 3 inches car- ried iT well. She enTerTained us wiTh The ballad. Come On'a My House from her newesT opera. Rufhy Then infroduced Joy STarreTT who Told us abouT her career. Her love life had been disappoinTingly concluded so she drowned her sorrows by becoming a missionary To The Eskimos aT The SouTh Pole. There she had a big ranch and was raising a new Type of race-horse. She had enfered one of her finesT horses. Cenfipede, in The 1980 Kenfucky Derby buT he broke away and was lasT seen running Through Soufh America heading for home. He had Thrown his rider info The waTer as They passed The Gulf of Mexico. She said ThaT if we would Turn our aH'enTion To The cenTer of The sTage we would be furfher enTerTained by Roberf Walker. RoberT explained Thar he had been living in The Belgian Congo and ThaT The King of ThaT counTry had knighfed him for his brave deeds. Once he even hy nofized a p Thon which had The princess of The Tribe capTive in iTs den Then he had The snake bring The girl ouT To him. This girl laTer became his wife and he inTroduced To us his family of 11. which did The riTual rain dance of Their Tribe. The nexT enTerTainer was our dear Teacher David Hawk. He had come a long way in his baskefball coaching and was now coach of The Harlem Space Gallopers. He and his Team puT on a very inTeresTing ex- hibifion for us. Three of his own sons were on The squad and The fourTh viqas a very compeTenT wafer boy who was in demand by many oTher ball c ubs.

She had married a nice boy while in UTah buT he was only a privaTe in The army and she enioyed giving him a bad Time.
