SCHOOL HONORS Seated Cleft to rightbz Donna Gearhart, Kay Hyskell, Jean Wilson Standing: Patricia Barnett, Robert Russell JOURNALISM AWARDS Jean Wilson, Donna Gearhart, Kay Hyskell, and Robert Russell each received bronze pins from the Pennsylvania Press Association and first awards for individual articles appearing in last year's school papers. Jean received her pin and award on a news item write-upg Donna, for an editorialg Kay, on a feature article, while Robert received his in the area of sports reporting. Second award winners include Patty Barnett for her contribution in poetry, Kay Hyskell and Jean Wilson for interviews, and Robert Russell for a sports article and a short story. Don Alcorn, Paul Kirkpatrick, Dale Aden AGRICULTURAL AWARDS Paul Kirkpatrick was awarded a Bronze Medal at State College in June of 1953. He won the medal in a Farm Mechanics Contest, Don Alcorn played the saxophone in the State FFA Band and at the Farm Show at Harrisburg in Janu- ary, 1954. He also received a Gold Medal in the State Project Contest tdairy recordsl. Dale Aden won fourth place in an exhibit on clover seed in state-wide competition. 56
