t r N w '4 Wieuage To the Students: As we travel down the avenue of life, there are some things which we hope may come true. There are others we believe to be true. As a result of our convictions and knowledge, there are other things we know to be true. One of the things I know to be true is that it is better to be kind than unkind. It can be made even stronger--it is better to love than to hate. Kindness is by no means all that the world needs. There is a need for understanding, patience, wisdom, service, sacrifice. But kindness helps so much as a practical medium in the give-and-take rela- tionships of life. It makes home a better place in which to live. lt gives to the office a more congenial atmosphere. lt developes lasting ties in the classroom. It makes life more pleasant for one who buys and one who sells. In the council rooms of those charged with responsibilities of state a little more kindness, supported by the deeper emotion of unselfish concern, might make the difference between war and peace. I am convinced that Goethe was right when he wrote, 'Kindness is the golden chain by which society is bound together. This thing I know to be true---it is better to be kind than unkind. Sincerely, Kim
