ThaT was in The summer, and Then we read abouT The iniTiaTion ThaT BeTTy WhiTe, senior Trom Club I8, Joan Vogel, iunior Trom AlTroo, PaT Lowry. lunior from Beaverines, and Dick MaTson, iunior Trom Ten Ace, had To go Through. You should have seen Them-quiTe a sighT. Oh. well, iT was all in Tun. Then There was The Time ThaT Phyllis Huri appeared as characTer oT The week and was quoTed as being The Queen of Queens by Dolly Felo, ediTor. Jimmy STaTTord, senior, Tound his losT love one nighT aTTer The Team played BelleTonTaine. She was a very beauTiTul blond and very aTTecTionaTe. IT was love aT TirsT sighT Tor PaTTy. She saT on his lap and wouldn'T leT him go, buT iT was liTTle Tour-year-old PaTTy's bedTime and she had To leave him. Joe Pohl, junior, displayed The newesT Thing in men's shoulder padding, by bor- rowing Joan Vogel's snap-in shoulder pads. Then on March 22, Clara Schwaiger received The mosT beauTiTul presenT a gal ever received on her birThday. A diamond engagemenT ring. LasT buT noT leasT was The AThleTic Dance, when RiTa Bergemeier was chosen AThleTic Queen and Johnny Huri, Paper King. This was The mosT imporTanT Thing oT The year and held The whole school in suspense. Thanks a million Tor The delicious Tood cooked and served by The women in The caTeTeria. They are Mrs. Elva Gieske, Mrs. Lilian Farrell, and Miss Nellie Burns.

Jim STaTTord and Phyllis Huri were crowned king and queen aT This aTTair. Open House was March 29 wiTh en- TerTainmenT being provided by The Music DeparTmenT. Our Senior Dance was April 2. On ThaT nighT our candidaTe Tor The AThleTic Queen conTesT was announced. She was RiTa Bergemeier. Junior-Senior Plays were April 30 and May I4. Ginny ArmsTrong, Maurice Krug, Elmer l.uThman, and BeTTy l-luddle- sTon received awards Tor The besT acTing. April Splash was The big shindig dance given by Club I8 on April 23. BaskeTball players and cheer leaders received awards Tor service This year aT a big assembly. The '48 Review was a varieTy show given on May 20 and May 2I under The direcTion oT Mrs. Genevieve Benben. Beaverines gave a dance Tor The Sophs on June II and called iT Soph's Send- oTT. CuTe, huh. Busy days ahead Tor us seniors wiTh pracTice in marching and singing. We love The sound oT iT, Though. You know we always gabbed abouT how glad we would be To be ouT oT school, buT when The Time came iT was preTTy sad. Especially To Think you'll never see some oT your acquainTances again, ever. Many years Trom now you'll look back and Think whaT you did Then and The acTiviTies you had. You'll see your Triends' picTures in The papers and say, I knew her when... Our daTe oT Class Day was Friday, July 23. Didn'T we have Tun aT Old River? Remember ThaT Senior and Junior Prom on July I62 Oh yes, BaccalaureaTe on Sunday, July 25. WhaT an exciTing week! And Then The day, July 30, GraduaTion, Friday evening, 8:00 o'clock. When we sang our class song To The Tune oT The WhiTTenpooT Song, everyone had a liTTle Tear in his eye. WhaT abouT you?
