The Music DeparTmenT provided The musical background. The CaT's NighT OuT was The TiTIe oT The parTy given by The Junior Class on March 2I. The junior candidaTe Tor AThleTic Queen was Wanda Arvin, Sec. I. VarsiTy C's were awarded our junior boys Tor baske+baII and a megaphone awarded The junior cheerleader. Harry James and Tommy Dorsey on record played Tor The Garden 6aiT on April 3 sponsored by The AITroo Club. On May 2 and I6 were The daTes of The Junior-Senior Plays. Shirley Nelson, Bill Turney, Bill VonDerau, Shirley Brod- nick, KeiTh Brunk, and Jim Davis had parTs in The plays. The Square ShuTTle was a dance The juniors had Tor Themselves. Didn'T we have Tun learning To square dance? ThaT's someThing ThaT we can puT in our memory books. The Senior Honor SocieTy held Their inducTion on April l8, and TwenTy juniors were Taken inTo The socieTy. The AThIeTic Queen conTesT was now in Tull swing. BerT MarTin and Ramona Siegel were on The commiTTee Tor The dance The Club I8 gave on May 23 and called STardusT STroII. The aThIeTes and cheerleaders were honored aT a special parTy on May 22 by The P.-T.A. We had our Junior-Senior Prom on July I8. Earl Holderman played dreamy music Trom 9 To I2. Juniors in The courT oT The coronaTion of The King and Queen were Dick Topp, Jim Zimmerman, RiTa Bergemeier, and Shirley Brodnick. We were shocked upon hearing The news oT The reTiremenT oT our principal, Clare Sharkey. An assembly was given in his honor, and our class presenTed him wiTh a porTabIe radio. This year sTarTed To be a hard year oT sTudy so we puT ourselves To The grind- sTone and sTored our vacaTion memories back of our minds. Beaverines sponsored Their annual I-Iallowe'en dance OcTober 3I. They call- ed iT The KaT's Kaper. WiTh Miss RuTh WersT as our adviser we sTarTed ouT acTiviTies early. Mrs. DoroThy HuTTon, Columbus millinery designer, also helped by providing some oT her original designs. And Then The mosT imporTanT evenT oT The year, The AThleTic Queen Con- TesT. The classes were on Their sTarTing lines waiTing To see who will be The winna'. RepresenTing The seniors was Mary Parks: juniors, BeTTy Graham: and The wonderful sophomores, Phyllis Huri. All us chillian's wenT To The Ten Ace- AlTroo Dance on March 29. AT The music conTesT on March 22 aT WesTminsTer Church, Norman Hoyer and Bing Crosby won awards. AThleTic awards were given To The baskeTbaII players and among Them of course were our sophomore heroes. Mr. Jukebox provided us wiTh sen- TimenTal music aT The TeeneTTes' Twirl, April IZ. On April 25, we enioyed a VarsiTy BanqueT in honor of The Beaver BoosTers. We were Thrilled To deaTh ThaT we had won The AThleTic Queen conTesT. Our queenie was Phyllis Huri. OuTsTanding sophs were Elmer LuTh- man and Phyllis Huri. They were presenT- ed wiTh medals by a represenTaTive from The Sons of The American RevoluTion. We enioyed The plays very much wiTh KeiTh WolTram The only sophomore Tak- ing parT. CandidaTes Tor Queen of The Pin Wheel Prom, a Tormal given by The Y Teens were Corky Helman, senior, and Lois WesT and Shirley Brodnick, sophs. Wow, ThaT year sure wenT TasT. Ginny ArmsTrong, Maurice Krug, Elmer l.uThman, and BeTTy l-luddle- sTon received awards Tor The besT acTing. April Splash was The big shindig dance given by Club I8 on April 23. BaskeTball players and cheer leaders received awards Tor service This year aT a big assembly. The '48 Review was a varieTy show given on May 20 and May 2I under The direcTion oT Mrs. Genevieve Benben. Beaverines gave a dance Tor The Sophs on June II and called iT Soph's Send- oTT. CuTe, huh. Busy days ahead Tor us seniors wiTh pracTice in marching and singing. We love The sound oT iT, Though. You know we always gabbed abouT how glad we would be To be ouT oT school, buT when The Time came iT was preTTy sad. Especially To Think you'll never see some oT your acquainTances again, ever. Many years Trom now you'll look back and Think whaT you did Then and The acTiviTies you had. You'll see your Triends' picTures in The papers and say, I knew her when...
