The Ten-Ace and AlTroo Clubs were co-sponsors oT The Garden GaiT held here aT school on May ll. The Pharmacy Follies, sponsored by The Log Club, was presenTed in The audiTorium on May I8. Two members oT our class, Frank Huls and Woody Johnson had leading parTs in This pro- ducTion. JusT beTore The Sophomores leTT, a much needed piece of equipmenT was puT inTo operaTion. This elevaTor, which carries everyThing buT people, connecTs The caTeTeria wiTh The basemenT, and eIiminaTes much sTair climbing Tor The ianiTors and oThers. The Tinal aThIeTic assembly was The TirsT one To be presided over by a Soph- omore aThleTic queen. ln The pasT years a Senior had always been elecTed, buT ThaT year The Sophomores voTed The honor To Rose Mary Chapol. IT cerTainly seemed sTrange conTinu- ing our regular schoolwork inTo The sum- mer, and on some oT Those hoT days, reciTaTion was no easy Task. We gave The seniors Their Tarewell dance aT Lakeside on July 20. Dancing was Trom 9 To I2, and The music was Turnished by Earl Holderman's orchesTra. We happily Turned in our books and cleaned ouT our lockers. AugusT 3 was The IasT day oT school and we leTT, look- ing Torward To The nexT year when we would be wonderTuI seniors. On SepTember IO, I945, we became proud seniors. Finally, aTTer II long years oT school, we couIdn'T be called underclassmen. The only new Teacher was Mrs. Edi+h Jacobson, music Teacher, who Took The place oT Mr. Carl E. Forbriger, who wenT To anoTher school. Then while we were sTill enioying school, everyone had To wriTe an essay in The D. D. D. C. WhaT a Time we had wiTh Those essays! Ted Landis, senior, won TirsT prize oT 52500. WiTh The coming oT I-TaIlowe'en, Co-op sTudenTs opened Their dancing season wiTh The WiTch's WaTch, spon- sored by The Beaverines. Our cross-counTry Team placed TiTTh in The DisTricT MeeT. Rosemary BarTschmid, sophomore, won The Prince oT Peace DeclamaTion ConTesT. All The sTudenTs parTicipaTing were very good speakers. This brings us up To The Thanksgiving vacaTion, The TirsT days oTT oT school since iT sTarTed in SepTember. Friday, November 3OTh, oTTicialIy opened The baskeT ball season, wiTh Co-op playing The Alumni, which, in- cidenTaly, was won by Co-op by The score oT 38-29. This gave The boys some conTidence, and They wenT on To play Their second game. The December Dip, sponsored by Club I8, was our nexT dance, and The dance was a success. CongraTulaTions also wenT To The Club aT ThaT Time Tor iTs TirsT birThday. Our nexT dance was The ReTaiIer's Ramble, sponored by The George-Deen By This Time, The Beaver BoosTers' Club.

We Tound only one new Teacher inourTacL:ITy Miss Mary KosT had replaced Miss T-Ielen I-IuTTman as Teacher in The com- mercial division. Our TirsT geT-TogeTher was The be- IaTed Sophomore parTy. A Sophomore parTy in The Junior year isn'T exacTIy Vogue, buT everyone aTTending greaT- Iy enjoyed iT. Dancing, a quiz program, and reTreshmenTs compIeTed The Tes- TiviTies in The audiTorium. All oT us were shocked aT The sudden deaTh oT PresidenT Roosevelt We aTTen- ded The Memorial assembly on Friday, April I3, in honor oT his greaT conTri- buTions To his counTry. Prayer, Bible read- ing, and music appropriaTe To The oc- casion were given. The dance our Junior class sponsored in April came on a very sTrange daTe, buT This daTe was The cenTer oT aTTrac- Tion. We called our dance The Bad Luck Bounce a very appropriaTe name, Tor This acTiviTy was held on Friday The ThirTei5nTh. Included were a Tloor show, door prizes, dancing, and reTreshmenTs. I-Iurrahl Yea! Finally our class rings and pins have come. We ordered Them back in The middle OT November, and here They are. This greaT daTe is April I9. Club was in Tull swing, wiTh a large num- ber of sTudenTs already members. In February, I946, The TaculTy grew by Two Teachers. Miss Thelma Black was a Tormer Teacher oT Co-op, who enTered The WAVES, and aTTer receiving her dis- charge, came back To Co-op To Teach sophomore English. The oTher Teacher was Mrs. A. L. Alm, coming Trom Kiser High School To Teach music. Mrs. Alm Took The place oT Mrs. Jacobson. By This Time, Senior Class was in Tull swing. CommiTTees had been organized, and were beginning To sTarT Their meeT- ings. In March, Co-op enTered The music conTesT aT WesTminsTer church, and made a very good showing. Open House was quiTe an evenT aT Co-op, wiTh 700 people visiTing boTh The annex and The school. Qur nexT big evenT was The Co-op STyle Show, sponsored by The sopho- mores, To which The general public were inviTed. ApproximaTeIy 300 people en- ioyed The many Tashions. On March 29, we danced To The music oT our iukebox aT The annual AlTroo-Ten Ace dance. Our Annual AThleTic Queen conTesT was The mosT Talked-abouT evenT aT This Time. The Three candiclaTes were Mary Parks, senior: BeTTy Graham, iuniorq and Phyllis Huri, sophomore. The winner was To be announced laTer. The TeeneTTe's TwirI was our nexT dance, sponsored by The TeeneTTe Club. April 25Th was The daTe oT much exciTemenT aT Co-op, aT The VarsiTy Din- ner, which honored The varsiTy baskeT- ball players and Beaver BoosTers, The news came To us ThaT Phyllis Huri, sopho- more candidaTe Tor AThleTic Queen, had won The conTesT, which puT The iuniors and seniors To shame. IT was an exciTing conTesT, and Took nearly a million voTes To win iT.
