X EAi+er WFfOON DEDICATION DOLA MONROE We, the class of 1984. are very proud to dedi- cate this yearbook to you, Mrs. Monroe, in re- turn for your dedication to us and to our school. You always keep things running smoothly when it seems they should be falling apart. Aside from being the perfect secretary, you also per- form services above and beyond the call of duty: counting out change for lunch, selling school supplies, and keeping all the schoolâs clubs' finances straight, just to name a few. We hope all the troubles you deal with are worth it, because you are worth so much to us. It proved that we as a class could work together toward a goal. Putting it together was great fun. We worked late into the night but it didn't bother us. And our hard work paid off April 30, 1983. The prom was a beautiful world of stars and streamers. We rocked into the night with the music of Prelude. But unfortunately the night had to end. We canât share all our memories with you, but we can share these pictures. (Sorry we have no pictures of the mirrored ball crashing! The yearbook photographer left too early to get that picture!) It has been discovered that Brad Tolbert and Valerie Owen are really Siamese twins joined hip to fingers. WEDDING BELLS FOR TWYLIA AND TODD? ENQUIRER PREDICTIONS SAY YES! See page 26 for details . . . PROOF THAT U.F.O.âS EXIST! We are aliens from outer space!â Details on page 11 TEACHER ALMOST KILLED AT D.S.H.S.! In an effort to suffocate Mrs. Holland for assigning too much homework, four seniors sat on her from lunch until 2:30. Oddly enough, Mrs. Holland survived and is giving even more homework. VICIOUS VALERIE While the rest of the class was working on last yearâs prom, Valerie Owen turned into Vicious Valerie, the Caped Crusader to scare off curious seniors. LAWSUIT FILED A lawsuit was filed against Scott Pendley by another basketball player for injuries that Scott caused. This picture is being used as evidence. The suit is reportedly for $1 million. SCOOP! Reporter âScoopâ Overby has found that Virginia Laffoon and Troy Brown have been secretly married for two years! It is also reported that they have six children. This unretouched photograph is proof that, in reality, Sarah Almon is only three feet tall! Sources say itâs those platform shoes of hers that make her appear so tall. A giant has been discovered at D.S.H.S. recently. It was discovered that Van Brasher is ten feet tall. As our cover states, the Senior Enquirer has predicted that Todd McKnight will mary Twylia Dunbar. However, matters have been complicated by the discovery of this picture. Here Todd is shown kissing his invisible girlfriend while working on last year's prom. Nobody ever saw her, but a hickey was reported walking through the cafeteria. Is she still in the picture or is Twylia now number one? Only time will tell. HEART ATTACK! Here Kathy Cotton is pictured giving Kenny Rowland C.P.R. after he had a heart attack at school. He apparently had the attack after finding out the price of this year's yearbook. SENIOR PRODUCTION OF E.T. Starring: Leslie Randolph in the title role and Brian Russell as Gertie 26 UNCLE KENT WANTS YOU FOR THE U.S. ARMY! But this page could never hold all the memories we have of her. She will be in our hearts forever. This card of sympathy is for all who mourn her death. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Soon every memberâs Saturday was filled up with a parade or field show. In Providence, the Marching Panthers placed first in the âparadeâ and field showâ divisions, and In December they participated in the Inaugural Parade in Frankfort (see next page). The culmination of marching season led the way for concert season and preparations for KMEA Contest, spring concert, and graduation. Front: Mike Castle. Jeff Gentry. Hank Drew. Randy Hatley. BAND LOW BRASS PERCUSSION ON THE ROAD AGAIN ... On Dec. 12. 1983, an excited crew of band members left after school for Frank- fort and the 1983 Inauguration Parade After arriving at the motel, most of the members ordered pizzas and partied until dawn. But no one felt like partying after getting up at 5:30 the next morning! The band marched the two-mile parade and later attended a reception at the new home of Steve Beshear. But soon it was all over and they were boarding the buses for home. John Moore cranked up the jam and the band rock nâ rolled all the way back to Dawson Springs. 61 w% 1983-84 BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Nov. 15 South Hopkins.................Home 18 West Hopkins .................Away 22 Providence ...................Home 29 Lyon County...................Away Dec. 6 Madisonville .................Home 9 McLean County.................Away 10 Muhlenberg Central............Away 13 West Hopkins .................Home 20 Bremen .......................Home 29-30 Todd Co. The teacher is not only an educator, but is also a friend and guide for those in need. The elementary years are the most crucial ones for receiving an education. One learns the alphabet, basic math, how to read, etc. Teachers are responsible for studentsâ understanding of a subject.
