They have to prepare their students for junior high school. They do this by exchanging classes with the fifth grade, increasing the difficulty of assignments, and using stronger discipline. F I F T H G R A D E Mrs. Barbara Lindsay Mrs. Kathy Smallwood Mrs. Lindsay and Mrs. Smallwood approach their jobs from a different angle— by using fun. They incorporate games and the like in their teaching methods. This unique way of teaching, and the fact that they exchange classes with the sixth grade add a ray of golden sunshine to their otherwise average days in school. 86 FOURTH Miss latella Lowery Mrs. Adeline Dunbar THIRD GRADE One of the most exciting things to the newcomers to the third grade is that they are finally on the second floor. Also brought into their school work are geography, science, and health. Mrs. Napier and Mrs. Dunbar help to accustom their students to their first taste of real school. GRADE Miss Lowery has been teaching here at Dawson longer than any other teacher. She puts this experience to use in her teaching. Likewise. Mrs. McVay's students benefit from her wisdom gained by teaching school. Mrs. Shirley McV'ay Mrs. Judith Napier Mrs. Pat Bowden MW Hosann Owens GRADE The second grade students experience their first step up the ladder of learning in school. Powered h the spirit of seniority over the first graders, the second graders are taught the 3 R’s by Mrs. Owens and Mrs. Bowden. FIRST GRADE Mrs. Sue Franklin Mrs. Franklin and Ms. Swat ell take the place of Big Bird. They develop ideas to calm the enthusiasm of their first graders and bring them out of the world of cartoons. Their secret for success is making learning easy hy having fun. Ms. Judy Swat .ell Mr . Drtionih Rol Mr. Chirico Clau rn KINDER- RESOURCE GARTEN ROOM SPEECH THERAPIST After 4 years of moping around the house, Dawson Springs' 34 kindergarteners are delivered from their drears of hnmelife to a whole new learning experience by Mrs. Roliv.
