Il takes dedication to be a good ball player of any kind, but for DHS. it not only takes dedication: it takes work and willpower. In the case of this year’s varsity ball team, the formula definitely worked. They started out early in the season by winning the Thanksgiving tournament against West Hopkins, and kept the ball rolling until March, when they had a good record of 19-10. We had a team of big players this year, and although they wer- en’t fast, they were definitely sure-footed. And their team work was some of the best that Dawson Springs had had for a long time. Congratulations, boys, for a fine season. PANTHERS SCHEDULE Nov. 11-12 At Home Resort City Inv. Many times, the fans are not aware of the hard work that goes into baseball. But. try imagining hours of prac- tice in the hot sun with the sweat blurring your eyes so you can't see that fly ball, and you have just one small feeling of what a lot of energy is expended by these guys. Our team members are true hustlers, as is evidenced by winning 1st place in the '77 district game, by defeating South Hopkins. David Grisham did an outstanding job pitching: and team members Tim Frost. Jon Cotton. Jeff Riley, and Danny Monroe did their part to bring home that precious trophy. Although, at this writing, the '78 season hasn’t started, we're confidence that it will be a blockbuster too. Go get 'em guys! 76-77 BASEBALL TEAM Back row. LR Joey Miller. Bo Menser. Tim Carlton. HOMECOMING ’78 Homecoming was a double treat this year. In addition to selecting a queen, the student body also selected a king. Some attendants to the ceremony were: 1. The Crown Bearer. Kevin Kinsolving and the Flower Girl Christy Harrell. 2. Seventh grade princess. Lori Dawley and prince. Scott Stevens 3. Eighth grade princess. Angela Perrin and prince. Kenny Fenger AND THE WINNER IS. . . TANA POE AND ROBIN PUTTY It was a tough decision, hut on February 10. 1978. the student body chose these two people to represent Dawson Springs High School. Overall. Homecoming was a success in every way: for not only did two very deserving people win King and Queen, but we won our game: and afterwards, let our inhibitions go by “hustling” “bumping.” and “boogeying” on the dance floor!!! 1. The Queen. Tana Poe and King. Robin Putty. 2. Here's Robin wearing that impish grin that makes him so popular. 3. Here’s Tana looking like a true Queen wearing her tiara. On Right: I. You have brightened many days with your presence here and every picture day we looked forward to your coming because we knew we could depend upon you, not only to do an excellent job, but to do it with a quick wit and ready smile. Somehow pic- ture days were not a chore with you around . . . Anyway, thanks ever so much for a job well done, and for another year of helping us put out a successful yearbook.
