ECHOES OF THE HALLS The soft, yet cheerful glee club morns, The familiar slide step on the stair, The days we've spent inside the walls, To recognize that Pat is there, Of Coal Grove High School's mighty halls, The clatter of the Home Ec. pans, Are memories to us tonight, The cooks of the future's flitting hands, For time has took it in its flight, The line outside the kitchen door, And placed it in the Senior's past, The grumbles when food is no more. Our school days here are gone at last. Those things, at last have passed away, The slamming of the locker doors, They are no more for us today, The thumps of feet upon the floors, But of you, followers, each girl and boy, The whistle of the flying chalk, Has many years yet to enjoy, The murmur of the classes' talk, So cherish and appreciate each little thought The splat of paddle in the air, And find in them the joy you sought The wondering of just who and where. And when, at last, you leave the walls, Of Coal Grove High School's mighty halls The clicking of the typing room, Your steps will echo in them still, The swish-swish of the janitor's broom, To be recalled by memories' quill, The shrill of buzz saw from the shop, Echoes that cannot die before, The tests on which we were not tau ht Each mind of memory is no more. g . Her job was a very tedious one but she never complain- ed. She hopes you enjoy the art work. pall LOWAYNE POR TER I FAYE WEBB EDITOR TEDDY SWARTZWELDER is a business education student and a good one, too. Editing a year book is just his line of work, he managed to instill his ideas and plans into the staff members until they too were quietly cracking up. When he received a bright idea quietness hover over the entire staff until he explained sometimes it was accepted with a shout of approval-other times it took him along time to convince his staff members that it was a good idea. His main demands were that the staff get it good, and get it right. The question is open to debate, but the staff hopes they've done both things. TEDDY SWARTZWELDER TYPIST ANNIS HARMAN, had the task of centering and typing page after page-- course after the typing the Editor Hawk- eyed it---but he invariably seemed to be well-pleased. She hopes that all names are correct and that you enjoy reading as well as looking through The Hornet . il' S tag. TE ANNIS HARMAN BUSINESS MANAGER FAYE WEBB sure kept after everyone to pay their deposits, to pay for pictures and to pay for their ads She was always friendly and cheerful and seemed to obtain the needed cash without too much difficulty.
