The Debate Team, under the direction of Miss Kosanke, has been very successful in this year's program of activities. The debates and discussions have been on various subjects, but the main subject was, Resolved: That a Federal World Govern- ment Should Be Established. The coach, as well as all of the debaters, were beginners in the activity in this chool. At first, getting the materials together and commencing work was rather difficult for them. lt dicln't take them long to get into harness, however, and enjoyment and fun soon followed along with the work. The debates and discussions were conducted at the various high schools: South, Union, Central, Wyoming, Lee, Ottawa, and Kelloggsville. The team was divided into two groups, one taking the affirmative, and one taking the negative. Each group debated at different schools. Last October the debate team went to East Lansing to attend a debate clinic to get some inspiration for the project. Now at the end of the year of debating, this group can call the year successful as well as enjoyable. SEATED: Eleanor Tromp, loan Koolen, Ruth Poplaski. STANDING: julie Vander Veen, Rita Golembeski.
