Coach Barnes has such veleran performers as Don Rylcse, Gene Hill, Roger Rufledge, and Lenny Dudicz: in fhe new-comers he has some very good prospecfs in Marv Van Heesl, Norman Saur, and Al VanderKaay. Rvlcse is raled as lhe bes+ member of +he squad, while Hill and Rulledge fill oul' fhe fwo and fhree posilions, respeclively. Van Heesl' and Dudicz play al' fhe number one doubles pos'r and Saur and Vander Kaay play fhe number 1'wo doubles posifion. Oul' of This year's feam, only Hill, Saur, and Vander Kaay will be losl' by graduafion. The remaining members have 'From one 'ro lhree years of compelilion leff and should develop inl'o a slrong +eam. One feam of pasf years successfully survived fhe cify compefifion and enfered fhe sfafe finals, where fhey upheld Tech fradi- fion superbly. Preliminary gym pracfice is concerned wifh fhe use of fhe driver only. Of special imporfance is a snap or fwisf of fhe wrisf which spanlcs fhe ball and gives if added disfance. Sfance and a relaxed posfure also aid efficiency. Nexf come acfual frials on a regular course. Lawrence Kozminski, Roberf Mulvey, James Kooi, and Roberf Burch were chosen as fhe parficipanfs in fhe I94l foursome. Golf is encouraged as a school sporf nof only for fhe recreafional advanfages and menfal relaxafion, buf also because if affords excellenf opporfunifies fo exhibif fine sporfsmanship and fair play. Teams have been formed for hi'r pin, baseball, volley ball, indoor baseball, and baskeiball. This year +he girls' baskefball 'leam had 'lhe privilege of showing rheir good work 'ro Union High School. Table 'rennis and badminron ranked highesi' among fhe individual spor'rs. Tournamenrs were played for each of fhese sporrs which mer wifh greai' success.
