Feeling 'rhal' in acquiring fechnical skills one is api +o 'forgef +o develop his personali+y, members of +his club, sponsored by Miss Kosanke, plan a round of acrivifies aimed +o develop personalify and make one's relaiionships wifh ofhers pleasant This year's calendar included programs on The Developmeni' of Poise, Clo+hes, Social Conduc+, Dancing, Hobbies, Furni+ure Design, and Modern Ari. There were bo+h ourdoor and indoor advenfures when fhe members frolicked in sparkling snow, skared over a frozen pond, or roller ska+ed, forgeffing 'rheir skinned knees and bumped noses in a flurry of arms and legs. On anoiher occasion faces glowed over an oufdoor fireplace when +he appefizing aroma of roas+ing hor dogs ieased fhe nosrrils of hungry hikers. Nor did fhe members srop fhere. Vigorous iiH'er bugs compeied wifh dancers who required grace ra+her +han speed in fheir dancing and all-in-all parficipaied in a well-rounded season of geH'ing fun ouf of life by puffing somefhing info if.

This year There were six young people in Torensics. The girls are seniors and have parTicipaTed ThroughouT Their Tour years. The boys sTill have aT leasT a year or more ahead oT Them. The mosT popular phase of The acTiviTy This year was declamaTion. The boys Took parT in only declamaTion, while The girls' speech work in- cluded dramaTic speech, exTempore, and oraTory. The sub-disTricT conTesT beTween The schools was held in March and The disTricT conTesT beTween The ciTy winners in April. BoTh conTesTs gave The sTudenTs keen compeTiTion. IT is The obiecT of The program To Teach appreciaTion of The value oT speech in everyday living and To give The parTicipanTs an opporTuniTy To gain confidence when Tacing an audience. Alfhough phofography is a comparafively young indusfry, if has gained momenfous imporfance. lf is an inferesfing hobby for fhe club members. Under fhe direcfion of ifs presenf adviser, Mr. Hopper, fhe sfudenfs learn of fhe many new uses of phofography foday: in crime defecfion, in fhe making of maps, and in many greaf indusfries. ln fhe fall of l938 a handful of sfudenfs mef for fhe firsf Camera Club meefing in room 202. Af firsf fheir number was pififully small and if seemed fhaf fhe club would die in ifs infancy, buf fhrough fhe careful supervision of fhe faculfy adviser, Mr. Sfanley Johnson, fhe spark of life was kepf glowing and soon fhe club was a sfrong, prosperous organizafion. lf was a hard sfruggle on fhe parf of ifs able presidenf fo gain a new enlarger and dark room, and even fhen if seemed af fimes fhaf fhe club would fold up under ifs own weighf. Finally, however, if emerged vicforious by successfully making over fwo hundred enlargemenfs for nafional defense and lafer numerous ofher prinfs of Tech classes and acfivifies.
