The mosT popular phase of The acTiviTy This year was declamaTion. The boys Took parT in only declamaTion, while The girls' speech work in- cluded dramaTic speech, exTempore, and oraTory. The sub-disTricT conTesT beTween The schools was held in March and The disTricT conTesT beTween The ciTy winners in April. BoTh conTesTs gave The sTudenTs keen compeTiTion. IT is The obiecT of The program To Teach appreciaTion of The value oT speech in everyday living and To give The parTicipanTs an opporTuniTy To gain confidence when Tacing an audience.
