The climax of lhe season was The demons+ra+ion deba+e held a+ +he school birfhday par+y for paren1's and feachers of Tech s+uden+s, and won by fhe negafive leam. This season gave +he feam ifs firsl vicfory in lhe hislory of +he school. The year's acfivifies have been of unfold value +o +hese sfudenls, and four of +hem will be back fo form +he 'foundafion of nex+ year's feam.

As membership requiremenis are very high only a small group of 'rhe finesr srudenis in each school are able fo meei' fhe requiremenis. Every year iuniors and seniors who have high scholasiic records, are ac'rive in ex'rra-curricular ac+ivi'ries, are of excellenf characier, and can be irusied, are selecied from +he sfudeni' body by an honor commiiree of ieachers and 'lhe socie'ry advisers, Miss Hood and Mr. Flower. This year There were six young people in Torensics. The girls are seniors and have parTicipaTed ThroughouT Their Tour years. The boys sTill have aT leasT a year or more ahead oT Them. The mosT popular phase of The acTiviTy This year was declamaTion. The boys Took parT in only declamaTion, while The girls' speech work in- cluded dramaTic speech, exTempore, and oraTory. The sub-disTricT conTesT beTween The schools was held in March and The disTricT conTesT beTween The ciTy winners in April. BoTh conTesTs gave The sTudenTs keen compeTiTion. IT is The obiecT of The program To Teach appreciaTion of The value oT speech in everyday living and To give The parTicipanTs an opporTuniTy To gain confidence when Tacing an audience.
