The quiet walks, the noisy fun, the schoolroom prize we almost won We'11 have these moments to remember. Tho' summer turns to winter and the present disappears, The laughter we were glad to share will echo thru the years. When other nights and other days may find us gone our sep'rate ways, We'11 have these moments to remember. Betty Everhart Joyce Snider MASCOTS CLASS POEM We, the seniors, have gloomy faces And tears come rushing in our eyes, For soon others will take our places Then they will echo our sad good-byes. We shall roam these school grounds no moreg We have passed the tests and made our score. Now looking back at all of you We remember the things we did, And those we didn't do. Opportunities have beckoned to all, Some heeded not, still others answered the call, Fortune and fame may come our wayg We shall look for the bestg this is our day. As we leave our school and onward go, We look for a higher sung A We are now reminded of our class motto, Not finished, just begun! Vida Kennedy CLASS MOTTO: Not finished, just begun! CLASS COLORS: Blue and White - FLOWER: White Carnation CLASS HISTORY For twelve long and successful years we have waited for this day--graduation. It is necessary, we feel, that some of our most precious memories be recorded in this--our Class History. In the fall of 1952, seventy-two awkward and eager boys and girls began their high school journey. Since there were so many of us, it was necessary that we were divided, the girls in Mrs. Kathleen Ayers' home room and the boys in Mr. J. E. Lippard's room. This year was a success, owing to the leadership of our class officers: President- Linda Smithg Vice-President- Emilie Hedrick, Secretary- Jo Ann Anderson, Treasurer- Martha Younts. We began our Sophomore year with a total of sixty members. Our leaders this year were Mrs. Grace Payne and Mr. Leonard Cashion. Our Class Officers were: President- Linda Cooper Vice-President- Dale Hedrick, Secretary- Vida Kennedy, Treasurer- Willard Thompson. Our Junior year began under the capable guidance of Miss Marie Bondurant. The class was led by our very competent class officers: President- Linda Cooper, Vice-President- Martha Yountsg Secretary- Vida Kennedyg and Treasurer- Willard Thompson. Our many activities included: presenting our class play, For Pete's Sake! , giving and attending the Junior-Senior Banquet, giving a Chicken Pie Supper, entering a float in the Armistice Day parade, attending a return party given by the Seniors, and having a class party at Reynold's Park, The summer passed swiftly and we returned in the fall for the last step of our journey with thirty-six dignified seniors. Our class was led by a very patient and understanding advisor, Mrs. Eula A. Ivey, and our class officers: President- Dale Hedrick, Vice-President- Vida Kennedy, Secretary- Frances May, and Treasurer- Willard Thompson. Some of the many highlights of this year were: publishing an annual, Sleriting Our mascots, Nancy Young and Stevie Edwards, giving a Halloween play, The Ghost Wore White , giving a Chicken Pie Supper, going on the Senior trip, attending the Junior- Senior Banquet, and preparing graduation exercises. It is with feelings of sorrow and pride that we take our departure and say farewell for the last time, sorrow because we must leave our beloved friends, our teachers, and fellow classmates, pride in our achievements and in our success. Let us hope that we will keep on striving for the better things in life remembering and cherishing those things we hold so dear. May we re- member that we have not reached the endg that we have Not finished, but just begun! Willard Thompson Class Historian x. X Q Axe V K x An i.. Q V Q li e KE . 3 . 4. His work as a Reformed Minister has carried him to the four corners of the earth. Dale Hedrick, we're proud of you! Dale, do you remember those days as a senior ten years ago? Remember James Beck and those wonderful drawings? He's a very outstanding cartoonist now. And Sara Byerly, well, she's his secretary. I bet she reads his wonderful comic strips before anyone else. And Jimmy Beck, I guess you read about his wonderful dam across the mighty Colorado River. He's made good of his wonderful chosen career. Doris Floyd wrote the article in the New York Times. She is quite a star reporter I hear. Since Jimmy was out west he brought along some old pals just to see you. Carl Lambath, now quite a rancher in Nevada. And speaking of live stock here is Phillip Everhart, a livestock farmer down in good North Carolina. And with him, well, he needs no recognition. That big oil man in Texas, Fred O. Fritts McCulloch! Do you recall Frances May? Well, here she is, a big Broadway star. And look at that all new hair style by Mintie Frank. She's doing well as a hair stylist in New York's swankest Salon. And that lovely dress was created by America's top most designer, Barbara Queen. This is Mrs. America or as you know her Mrs. Emilie Thomas, Her sensa- tional talents as a homemaker and dress designer won her this outstanding title. Linda Cooper was the former holder of this title. She is a marvelous cook. The former Misses Betty Bryant, Charlotte Jarrett, and Dewanda Pierce all now keep house for their wonderful families. But isn't this a striking couple in Military uniform. Paige Leonard now a Corporal in the Waves and Lieutenant Colonel Charles Swing in the Navy. Jack Newton along with Bruce Nance are in the Automobile business. Jack has his own garage and Bruce owns America's Top Most Hot Rod Race Track. Betty Everhart, a Dean of English at Womans College, is here with Martha Younts who is married but is also teaching Second Grade at D. T. S. Daniel Snyder has won recognition as a Professor of Psychology. And Edna Smith, kind of a teacher, was not able to be here because she is in one of the darkest parts of Africa at a small mission that she and some other missionaries have opened there. She is a medical missionary. Willard Thompson, President of a music Printing Company picked up Vida Kennedy who is now an English teacher at Thomasville, and Jewel Dean Hughes, She's the Secretary-Reporter who wrote the outstanding sports article of the year about Joe Don Lambeth, Incidentally Joe Don is playing Professional Basketball for the Detroit Lions, Joyce Snyder, a secretary, has her own TV Series on Secretaries of America. Carolyn Easter, who's been working at the Pentagon helped Joyce with these programs. lhave an exclusive! You remember Joel Medlin and Maxine Vawter. They were host at a party held at the Brown Derby a couple weeks ago. Joel is a P1ayboy around New York these days and Maxine is in the top Society Bracket She played hostess to the Princess Margaret about a month ago. Also at the party were Ruth Moore, Arlene Hughes and Harold Stanford. Ruth and Arlene aren't doing anything at the present. But they have been around the world twice and a third time. Lucky girls! l Harold is a movie producer with his own studios. Joel is to be the star in his next picture. Well, Dale, these are your friends. Those must have been grand school days. Your friends have seen the development of ten years. We hope that by the end of the next ten years they all will have progressed as much as they did the last ten years.
