Tammie Fisher is smiling as she practices for the game. Color guard team members are working hard hours for the big performance. The flags for Color guard are made in different styles and colors. Marching proud and looking great Color guard is a performing art where people put a large amount of time into it. The reason why we put in all of this effort is because it is a feeling of excellence, said janet Goldsmith, the Color guard captain. The Color guard students practiced nearly seven to eight hours a week. This year's Color guard team consisted of 16 students: 14 students who carried flags on the field and two students who helped with the equipment. Ianet Goldsmith and Michelle Moore were the two dedicated seniors with excellent performances this year. Color guard performances were judged on the musical and marching techniques, as well as the visual effects. The U.S. flag was represented in part of the show, but mostly colored flags were used. Winter guard had nearly 20 students involved. These students performed at the basketball games. This year's fundraiser was a Flagathon where students were sponsored by the hour to make flags. Tammie Fisher, a 15 year old sophomore, was the featured baton twirler. She is one of only nine twirlers in California able to perform with three batons simultaneously. Being a member of the California State Championship team, she has attended the Grand National Baton Twirling Competition in Wisconsin. Her lessons in jazz dance, ballet, tap and gymnastics provided an exciting routine. This year was fun for being my first year in Marching Band, replied Tammie, - Kerri Coulter
