Teamwork applauded A total team effort helped boost the Spartan spirit on the varsity soccer field. The team was strong and came within a close margin of winning every game. Beyer and Merced were the boys' biggest threats. Ken Epperson played an excellent year at his defensive position, ,while Reggie Powell, Bob Crossman and Ken Manzoni also showed strong play in the back field. Offensively, Steve Jacobs and Olaf Sachau, with the help of Buzzy Combs and Pinder Basi, scored several of the goals made against opponents. Coach Dick Erler felt he had an excellent team.
