0 Cardiac kids rejuvenated The nerve-racking varsity team added a few gray hairs to coach Denis France's collection. Led by three year varsity starter Craig Orona and Scott the rope C-uptill, the team squeaked by numerous opponents. France often commented that the team was out to give him a heart attack. A typical Davis game came down to the wire, won by a two or three point margin. Aggressive play by point guard Brad Zwahlen often sparked late-in- the-game rallies by the Spartans and the consistency of the Orona-Guptill duo kept the team close during dry spells. Rounding out the starting line-up were Shane Harmon, with his red shots, and second year starter Mark Nelson. Off the bench came twin Paul Nelson, Eric Dixon, Allan Hodge and Anthony torpedo Woods. With Harmon, Allan Davis, Nelson and Orona injured part of the season, Woods and Paul Nelson saw much action. A Spartan goes for a basket while an Atwater player tries to block him. On a jump ball Doug McCullough tries to retrieve the ball for the Spartans. l l Frosh have potential They're a good group. All of them were hard workers, and they're very coachable, admited coach Gerald Houser about freshman basketball team. Leading scorers were Robbie David and Preston Miller. In a game against Beyer Miller scored 29 points. Rob Ridenour, David Clement, Miller and Doug McCullough were part of the team's strong defense. Coach Houser recalls, Our team wasn't as strong offensively.
