vol. 26 Grace M. Davis High 193 Kelly, Bispo, Colvin boost spirit As game time approached on those Friday evenings, spectators entered the gate, players stretched muscles, and Boosters set up concessions tables. We never doubted that these moms and dads would be present for they were always there to cheer teams to victory or console in the event of a loss. Molly Kelly, Iessie Bispo, and Geneva Colvin made their indelible mark as devout Booster supporters. Their sons' involvement in the Davis athletic program prompted these three women to join Boosters. Through this work they aided the school and their sons. Stated Bispo, I have the satisfaction of knowing I have helped my son and his schooling. Many hours of free time were pledged to the cause for Booster work is never done. During the summer Kelly and Colvin sold S4200 worth of advertisements for athletic programs. Buttons made by Bispo, dolls whose clothes were made by Kelly, programs, and lighted bracelets were a few of the V, ww.- articles sold at football games. A spectacular football banquet expressed the pride felt by Boosters. We wanted to make our sons' sport a neat experience, not just work on the field, commented Kelly. It is not only football that receives Boosters' support. All athletics find themselves under the wings of these mothers. Kelly firmly stated, If we don't do it, no one will. - Licia Pope B-I- -G-D Each Tuesday night the sounds that come from the cafeteria were not those sounds usually heard, but rather those of a caller yelling out letters and numbers and people screaming BINGO. Davis' first year of Bingo was successful. An average Tuesday evening consisted of approximately 100 players, 20 parents to help, and lots of fun. The new program brought in 5300 to S400 each night. Although the money has had to go to pay for the equipment and costs of the program itself, in future proceeds will go to student activities that need funding. A jackpot of over S200 was possible and not unlikely. Many people were able to get together for the fun of the game and also for the excitement of winning real money. Davis' first year of Bingo was only the beginning of many more successful years ahead, felt Bingo workers. - Iennifer Warden
