TRC 0UR TRACK teams of the past two years have established a very high standard. Last year we placed second in the division with 48 points as to Logan's 53. Davis accounted four first places: Wilcox in the high jump, Burton in the 880, the mile relay, and the medley relay. In the state meet Davis placed third, ranking ahead of Logan. Again Wilcox won the high jump, and Burton the 880 yard dash. This year, although baseball has taken much of the interest away from track, a few ambitious athletes have been getting into form. We hope for a very good showing this season. Rushforth, captain and the fellow who ran Wilcox a close second in the high jump last year, has been clearing the bar in perfect form at 5 feet 11 inches, and we expect him to make better than 6 feet in the coming meets. He also discovered that he could broad jump with the best of them, getting well over a 20 foot marker. Thornley is expected to gain us some points in the javelin and high hurdles. We have some very good material in Half-Pint Nelson, a regular speed demon. Fenkick, Swan, Bangerter, Briggs, D. Simpson, Hodson, and Reed are expected to show their heels to others in the relays and the middle distance runs. Representing us in the weights are Hart, Smith, a last season's artist, and Bangerter, who are working to bring honor to their school. Marcelle Linford gained the girls' championship honor by defeating LaRue Robins, last year's champion. The school has entered the Salt Lake Division tennis league, the winner of which receives the Tillicums' cup. Those represent- ing the school in the sport are Harold Wilcox and Calvin Rampton, singles, and a combination of two of the following in the doubles: Allen Holt, Jack Thornley, Keith Smith, and Ralph Tanner. Our team has not played enough to reveal their real strength, but we feel certain they will do their share in uplifting the athletic standard of Davis High.
