The Senatus Davis Elkins College , 1984 ill - x s a ane NT an D E - A Different kin College Davis Elkins is different, not so much because of where we are, or who we are, but why we are. In an era of well-defined careers, detailed intellectual pur- suits, and specialization, the liberal arts commitment stands out. At all levels of the college communi- ty—the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, staff, and students—we are concerned about gradu- ating individuals who are distinctive in their under- standing of and coping with the complex issues and problems which face the 21st century. Hence, the D E alumnus leaves Elkins not only with a degree, but with an education. q i ee gst a Se Cai ot PIII tee cts ee } ee Ta) lene | 13 v na t “ie Fs is x - . ‘ pac be! 7 ’ ey - © le, Sus ; Les ‘ i ee ; A ele ee Sam a the 4 i % ’ an a oe le = aw : pe F ry ae b Bo oe tn of ak pA 4 — : , we on : : Be 4 - he 6 ; nie : ' 7 AL ’ ‘a 5 . . . a = . y 7 y : : ; ; ; os i 2 —_ ’ Py a ; . ¥ a ; fa = Pal, g . é ; ; . 7: : ake 4 - S . 3 £ ! 5 - i 2 ‘ : Oe AS ae Seite RE RO Se Oakes : o : = « - Ui ss fi . (At least | didn’t put my picture on it, so calm down.) | have just a few parting shots to offer: To those of you who laughed when we said there would be a spring yearbook this year, | hope you're all laughing out of the other sides of your faces. To those of you who happen not to appear on a page that says ‘‘No Photo available,” blame yourselves. To the joker in the campus center who has seen fit to turn out my office lights every night at 11:00, | hope someday YOU have to work at the whims of creativity. and lastly, to each and every one of you who heckled me or my staff at any time during our project, we did it in spite of you all.
