R Division is comprised of work centers ERO1 and ERO4. Work center ERO1 includes Hull Technicians and Machinery Repairmen. The HT's and MR's are responsible for repairs to machinery, piping systems, and for general shipboard Welding. They also handle shipboard damage control training for all personnel and general damage control maintenance. Work center ERO4, better known as A Gang, includes Enginemen and Machinist's Mates. The EN's and MM's are responsible for air compressors, steering engines, diesels, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Both ERO1 and ERO4 are responsible for completing any shipboard repairs that are beyond the capabilities of other divisions and departments. HT1 Eastman

The MM's are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the two main engines that propel the DAVIS through the seas. They operate the ship's four generators that supply electric power, and they are responsible for the two evaporators that produce fresh water for the crew and feed water for the boilers.
