B This book has been a collective effort. A number of people have aided in its preparation and deserve to be recognized for their efforts. A First I would like to thank FTG3 JERRY DUHON and OS3 BOBBY BURBANK for their work on the cruise book staff. PNSN JOE ELKINS and PC3 STEPHEN BYINGTON were also workhorses in this area. Between them they typed most of the manuscript for this book and Joe also headed the layout committee. They hung in there and Worked when all the rest of us were flagging. Thanks are also due to PHAN STEPHEN ANDERSON. PHAN took most of the photographs contained in this book and handled a lot of other odd jobs that popped up during its production. He was a great asset and the book Wouldn't exist in its present form without his work. While I'm on the subject of photographs I would also like to recognize the men who contributed photos to the book: SN ANTHONY BARBIERI, SKSN CURTIS DAVIS, MA1 DEMETRIO FILARDI, SA ANTHONY GREENHALGH, FTGSN JOHN GUZZO, HT2 DAVID KING, GMG2 ROY MACKENZIE, HTFN J EFF ERY PORTER, HM3 ALLEN RICE, FTG2 RITCHIE ROUSSEY, QM3 MARTY SANFORD, TMSN GARY SLEEMAN, SN GARY THOMAS EM3 JOHN WALSH and HTFN TIMOTHY WILMATH .Most of the color photography in this book is the result of their contributions Finally we all owe a debt of gratitude to GMGl MICHAEL MCGUIRE who headed the fund raising committee for this book Rapid F ire did some big talking about how much money he could raise and then went out and made every Word of it come true Thanks to his efforts this book was paid for before It even Went to press The Middle East cruise 1S never a picnic and Davis had it tougher than most Nevertheless we handled it and this book is a small record of that accomplishment In the years to come when you look back over some of the places you ve been and the experiences you ve had I hope that this book will help you to remember Where you were and what you did in the winter of 1977 78 Oflfv fjfwffvm 7 87 3 7 THE EDITOR ' ff D D DX o It ff xN vy ' D rm 7 ly mf 'K Xl fi 4 I A xN -N... ff Q i' X ff G 'X W T IA vw : xxxxXXxsS'.. 88 - Q ., 1 X, 21--3 t 5 ' , ii ,J 1f',CL'g3gi-H1 'X A ' l jix 'XS' ' is -1 ,ji q I p - K' 'T 's I f -xffkf L., ,
