OI DEVISIGN - p .OI Division is composed of the ship's Operations Specialtists COS,sJ who are responsible for the efficient functioning of the ship s Combat Information Center CCIC5. CIC's mission is to collect, evaluate, and disseminate tactical information from electronic interception, sonar and visual contact. They may at times exercise control, as delegated, of the ship, the shipfs weapons systems, and during flight operations, aircraft. 0S's are also responsible for tracking and maneuvering against submarines, aircraft, ships, and missiles. The EW's are responsible for the operation and maintenance to the ship s electronic Warfare equipment. Often the first indication of an enemy's presence is gained by the interception of his electromagnetic emissions, which often provide the only means of identification.
