A ABA, JGRDAN The USS Davis arrived in Aqaba, Jordan on 28 November for a four day port visit. During this time the Davis relieved USS Sellers CDDG llj and assumed her duties as a member of the ,Middle East Force. The ship was inspected by RADM Samuel Packer, USN, Commander Middle East Force, and members of his staff, and made an outstanding impression. Although the ship's schedule was a busy one many crew members found time to enjoy liberty ashore in Aqaba or to go on a tour of the ancient city of Petra. A cocktail party and a dinner were hosted for the Davis Wardro om by local Jordanians. The ship, in turn, provided tours for Jordanian military personnel. On December 1, USS Davis got underway and headed south into her new operation areas in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. .1 MY CAMEUS BETTER THAN YQUR CAMEL. PETRA TOURISTS ASSEMBLE FOR THE JOURNEY. X .
