Commander Robert P. HILTON was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Schley County High School, Ellaville, Georgia, and attended North Georgia College for a term before enlisting in the Navy in March, 1945. After his discharge, he became a NROTC student at the University ' Mississippi. Commander HILTON graduated from Mississippi in June 1948, receiving his mmission at that time. Since commissioning he has served in USS NOA IDD-841l, USS ROANOKE CCL-145l, USS HAYNSWORTH lDD-7007, and on the staff of Commander Blockading Escort Force, Pacific Fleet during the latter phase of the Korean Conflict. Commander.HILTON was Commanding Officer of USS CAMP IDER-251l from July 1961 until July 1962. His last tour was in Washington, D.C. where he served as Executive Assistant and Aide to the Director, Joint Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff, for 18 months and then as Assistant Head, Western Hemisphere Branch, Politico-Military Policy Division, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations for another 18 months. Commander HILTON attended the Russian and French Language course at the Naval Intelligance School, qualifying as Interpeter!Translater in both languages. He holds a Masters, of Artsdegree in Government lRussian Affairsi from Georgetown University, and has done further graduate study at the Sino-Soviet Institute, .George Washington University. Commander HILTON wears the Bronze Star, Joint Service Commendation, American Area, World War II Victory, Navy Occupation, National Defense, Korean Service, Viet Nam Service, and United Nations Medals. i , f 6 2 9 I Robert Stephen GUY was born in Newton, Kansas, on December 16, 1918. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1940 and was commissioned Ensign on February 28, 1941. He was promoted to the grade of Captain on May l, 1960. After commissioning, his first assignment was in the gunnery department of the destroyer USS ALDEN lDD-211l in the Asiatic Fleet. He became Executive Officer in June 1944 when the ship was engaged in convoying in the Atlantic. In 1944 he returned to the Philippines as Executive Officer of the destroyer USS MEADE CDD-6027 and took command of the MEADE in December 1945. Since that time he has served in the cruiser SPRINGFIELD as Navigator, and has command- ed the destroyer-minesweeper USS MACOMB lDIVlS-23l and the destroyer USS NORRIS lDDE-8595. He commanded Destroyer Division 252 during 1960-61, and subsequently has served as Chief of Staff and Aide to Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla TWO and in command of the destroyer tender USS CASCADE CAD:-16l. He is currently in command of Destroyer Squadron Twelve. Captain GUY will be leaving the Acey Ducey Squadron in early September, and his next assignment will be with the Navy Career Retention Task Force.
