Look' Look' There she comes, cried someone excitedly She? Who I asked rn bewrlderment Why the famous high diver, Margaret Grrflin of course My mind was clear now So this was the famous Florida resort, and once more I was to behold the countenance of a former schoolmate As she emerged from the water the crowd parted like the Red Sea, that its 1d0I might pass through What yuh say there, Baird? In spite of her sudden rise to publicity she was stil' the sarre Margaret I started to explam but she cut me short by suggesting that the crowd wouldn t appreciate our conversation and if Id wart rn the hotel lobby till she changed her costume for one more suitable to the occasion We d have tea and talk over old times The hotel was a luxurlous place and as I had noticed several persons of promr nence passing rn and out I decided to look over the registry to see rf any of my old classmates were among 1he regl tered On my Way to the desk I noticed some young men grouped about what looked to me like a flower stall By approaching closer however I found it to be a telephone booth and its operator Wilma Murphy Her companions were Jrmm, Watts Tommy Bell Jimmy Pfister and Leroy Crowe What s it all about? I demanded As soon as our greetmgs had been exchanged Tommy explained that the four of them had formed a quartet Jimmy Vlfatts it seemed was the individual star or the quartet, and as his services were so much rn demand elsewhere he commanded three fourths of the money taken rn By this time Margaret had arrived on the scene and as she was hungry as usual we departed rn search of the tea room Here we found a table away from the school days I offered her my warmest congratulations for her success but she only grinned modestlx and replied Oh, you haven t heard anything yet Helen Best s got a French duke all roped in and the happy event comes off next month and Sharon Chapman has set a world record for dancing Went two weeks without stopping Strrman Am brose and his wife the former Julia Smith are in town He lS manager of the A P store here Anne Hart Robey is singing with the Metropolitan Opera Betty Graham rs here attending the races with her husband who is riding horses for Robert Temple ho has made millions from his race horses But what is the news of Owensboro?
