The last year! The last long mile! Four years of sweat, toil, and unceasing boisterous frivolity. And we loved every minute of it. There is one great distinction that sets our graduating class aside from the pre ceding graduating classes. We were the first class to enter the new consolidated school as Freshmen. Yes, at last we were in high school. At first we were awkward and had many troubles, but soon amid all the other pupils we found our way. The class officers that yearwere President, Steve Teague, Vice-President, Linda Quilling Secretary, Bre n d a Taylorg Treasurer, Joyce D. James. School started again and there we were - Sophomores. That year our class officer were President, Manning I-Iuskeg Vice-President, Jerry McCullohg Secretary, Kay james, Treasurer, Brenda Taylor. Then, ourjunior yearwas to be one long remembered. Why? The junior Play and, finally, the junior-Senior. Under the dire ction of Mrs. June Land and Miss Claire Wall the class presented a three-act mystery entitled Phantom Bells. The money from the play financed the junior-Senior, which w as held very successfully at the Mocksville Gymnasi1.u'n.A talent program was held in the Moclcsville School Auditorium, and later the dance was held in the gym where the theme Moonlight and Roses was carried out. Our officers were President, Betty White, Vice-President, Manning Huske, Secretary, Linda james, Treasurer, Steve Teague. Thus our junior year was ended and w as highlighted with the ordering of our class rings which we would receive our Senior year. Andnow we have come to our twelfth and final - our Senior - year. We are proud to have been under the gui- dance of our Principal, Mr. D. F. Stillwell, our homeroom teachers, Mrs. June Hicks, Mr. Walter Morris, Mrs, Charles jamerson, Mr. james Wall, and to other members of the faculty who have helped us in so many profitable ways. As Seniors we could not resist the feeling of being slightly superior or a trifle mandatory. Senior Class Officers were President, Ramey Kemp, Vice- President, Kay james, Secretary, Linda james, Treasurer, je rry Keller. Among some of the varied activities that Seniors cannot do without was our Senior Play, given very successfully under the direction of Mrs. June Hicks. Our class entered a float in the Christmas parade at Mocksville. Whe n our float won first prize as the Most Original in the Statesville parade, we were proud indeed. We were the honored guest of the junior Class at the Junior-Senior which was given to us at the Mocksville Gymnasium. Now, we r e a l i ze all these delightful days and years filled with work and - yes - play have come to an end. We shall look back on those days before graduation with sad hearts, for we realize they are gone forever. We shall have to fill a more important and demanding role in life. We have reached the crossroads of our destiny, where the path branches to success or failure. If that same uncon- querable spirit that is held in highest esteem by our class- mates of today is transmitted to later years, our motto, The past is proved, we must face the future, will truly be justified.
