HIS is Davidson 1945. Another QuiPS AND CRANKS and another milestone in the passing years. Here we mark the progress and record the history of the events that have gone into the mak- ing of this year. May we never forget the life that we have known here, for this is the Davidson that we have come to love, the Davidson that will live in our memories. These are the phases of our life here: the aca- demic, the social, the athletic, each with its place and its purpose, each with its own peculiar ability to become a part of our world of knowledge and memory. This is a record of college life in the crucial years of a great war. Deep inroads have been made on the normal course of activities. Despite this, however, the life of the college has gone forward with no lack of determination. The Davidson spirit is alive as ever. In the world outside our gates there has been the violence of conflict. Our lives have been shaken by it, and our attitudes have been reshaped. We have taken a part of the tradition from years gone by. a sense of permanence and security. With this has been mingled the spirit of the battles of today. With these in our grasp, we can look to future years, to the world that we shall build tomorrow. Davidson becomes a part of us, integrated into the structure of our lives. We can never forget our experiences here because for the most of us they were the years of change from youth to man- hood. We have linked them to our past and build upon them for the future.
