THE TIME IS NOW The time is now to capture the drama of the campus. Drama is the essence of life. It is heard in the words, seen in the actions, and shown on the faces of the students. It is an expression of the soul, revealing the innermost thoughts and feelings. Life and its movements are lost forever in a second, a moment. Only by the placing of these actions in words on the printed page may they be captured for time immemorial So now is the time to visit the campus.

Dedicafion More than twenty years and three thousand miles separated Otis Hooper and Earl Grant at birth. Today they have been drawn together by their mutual interest in Jordan High and by their efforts in behalf of its students. Earl Grant was born on May 23, 1891, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where he attended Somner High School. Today he is President of Family Savings and Loan. A long time friend of Tordan, he has assisted the students in many ways. He has sponsored and purchased trophies for the drama award. He has provided jobs for Jordan High School graduates and students. He has given Jordanites, attending junior colleges and universities financial aid at the end of the school year to cover their deficits. Many of our boys lmow him as a Scout Commissioner and have profited greatly from his leadership. In addition, his valuable contributions as a member of local or school lay committees leave us forever in his debt. Otis Hooper was born on August 10, 1911. He was graduated from South Pasadena High School. A past President of the Kiwanis, he has been an active participant in youth work in our community. His contributions to Jordan have been wide and varied. As a result of his leader- ship, the South East Kiwanis Club sponsors our semi-annual athletic banquet and pur- chases trophies for our award winning ath- letes. Moreover, Otis Hooper, has often stumped the community to obtain funds to send Jordan representatives to Boys' State, Girls' State, and to the Key Club Conventions In other words, whenever there is a school problem -- job or money -- he is always available. For these reasons and others too numerous to mention here, we, the Student Body of David Starr Jordan High School, dedicate this annual to Earl Grant and Otis Hooper, Friends in our moments of need -- Friends indeed.
