BULLDOGS SCALP MOI-IICAN S HIDDEN BALL--Ralph Williams waits for a pass from Arthur Curry to settle in his arms in Don game. Bee Gridders Lose to Gardena Despite an 85 yard run by right halfback Thomas Reese, the Jordan Bullpups succombed to a powerful Gar- dena eleven, 34-13, on the vic- tors' field. Iordan's other touchdown came on a pass to end George Scott, who hit pay dirt with on ly six minutes left in the ball game. BOO HOO--Lowell Thomas cries for mommy after Santa Barbara Holguin Paces Local Harriers With probably the best 10th grade cross country man in the city, in the per- son of Abraham Holguin, on his squad, prospects for Coach Bill Zazuetta's league and city title hopes have tak- en a rosier outlook. While running varsity, Holguin broke the South Gate Park 10th grade record by 13 seconds. Arthur McPhe- ters, Palmer, and Foley are also mainstays of the team. player takes his bubble gum away. . Highlighted by the spectacu- lar running of Don Madison and Ralph Williams, the 10- cals evened their League record at 2-2 and face the league leader, Bell, this afternoon at Bell. Gardena opened the scor- ing on an 18 yard pass play from Jimmy Damron to Don Blaine. Bob Isaacson con- verted. The Bulldogs were not to be denied as they roared back in the second quarter with two t.d.'s. Lowell Thom as scored on a 30 yard run off right guard and Williams bulled over center for the tallies. Henry Gonzales add- ed the first of his four extra points. ln the third quarter the Bulldogs tallied again as quarterback Arthur Curry plunged over from the one yard line. J'ordan's final touchdown came in the fourth period as Willie Gamble scampered 27 yards around his left end to make the final score read Jordan 28-Gardena 7. Iordan's grid team lost its third straight game as Santa Barbara High toppled the Bulldogs by a slim mar- gin of 12-0 at Peabody Stadi- urn in Santa Barbara. Although Jordan lost to Santa Barbara, the Bulldog eleven literally outplayed the Dons, inasmuch as the Dons could only net 17 yards with their vaunted offense.
