Marching Band Lends Color To Games, Rallies During the fall, the Panther Marching Band participated at all football games, performing a different half-time show at each home game. In addi- tion, the band marched in several parades, including the Montebello Royale Parade, and the San Pedro Christmas Parade. The band also had the honor of being the host band for the prestigious All-Western Band Review. In the spring the symphonic band performed at several concerts and festivals. Pantherettes Show Spirit, Excitement, Pride Spirit, enthusiasm, and pride were all expressed by the 1980-81 Pantherettes. The girls practiced weekly during the summer and throughout the school year. They helped create spirit and unity by supporting minor sports events and selling spirit buttons as well as performing at rallies and football games. Row 1: Cynthia Brown. Val Rivers, Dance Captain Noreena Beckenbach, Captain Kathy Slattery, Co-Captain Karen Cather, Dance Captain Jeannie Arndt, Viveca Rivers, Right Guide, Sue Waxenfelter. Row 2: Julie McNeley, Dawn Carpenter, Patty Shreffner, Right Guide Teri Owings, Tina Tyler. Donna Appleby, Dana Robinson, Barbara Davis. Cindy Asbee, Becky Fields. Trisha Franz. Row 3: Susan Elston, Christy Howell, Right Guide Laura Ninke, Jacque Archuleta, Trisha Hartman, Lisa Gurule, Rene Lara, Kathy Trotter, Yvonne Lytkowski, Janet Riggins, Kathy Westfall, Right Captain Kathy Slattery and Co-Captain Karen Cather were responsible for making up competition routines as well as keeping discipline. Dance Captains Noreena Beckenbach and Jeannie Arndt made up and taught fight songs, halftime routines, and dances for rallies. Pageantry Performs With Marching Band This year ' s pageantry performed at all home football games and marched in several parades. In addition, they participated at several tall flag clinics and competitions. The group of girls per- form wherever the band performs. Practice usu- ally begins as early as 7:15 and continues until the end of first period each school day.
