A all ASB President Dennis' Schwartz As President, I noticed that the student body has succeeded in taking strides towards involving all of us together in school activ- ities. We have become aware of the fact that mere criticism of past policies has no relevance un- less along with it we have fresh 20 and new ideas. The era of parti- san and biased groups is growing to a close. We must all strive to be intellectual individuals. Stu- dent involvement and interest is the first step before becoming self governing. We have begun to take this step. Spwng Spring ASB Prefideni Alvin Parks I ,N- 4 TICKETS I 0 , i ax ...t As Student Body Presi- dent Ihave a lot of respect for my job. I respect all the people with whom I work daily. Although I'm going to be president for only four months, I still will try to do whatever I can to help the entire student body. I would like to see music in the lunch area and a way to solve the smoking on campus. I hope we can close the gap between Stu- dent Government and the student body. One of the most important things I try to express is my thanks to everyone for giving me honor and respect. I want everyone to remember that although my ofnce is higher than anyone else is on this campus, we're all equal. We must remain as brothers and sisters. Inadra has a population of 36, OOO. School in Finland is quite different from Jordan. We don't have any separated junior and senior high schools. There are 1250 students at- tending my school whose ages range from 10 to 19. I especially like the warm winter weather here. In my hometown we have a lot of snow in the winter. Sports are also different in a Finish high school. We don't pay much attention to sportsg however, I like football. Jordan is a nice school. The students are nice, and I am really en- joying my year here. Seppo Kallio Seppo and A. F. S. President Charles Accardi v f Q o Seppo takes an active part in Student Council. Instead of just building bodies, the coaches instilled in our players new morals, stronger character and a greater respect for discipline. The team had their finest finish in years, second place behind Mil- likan with a 4 win, 1 loss record. As in the past, the Bee team will again send to the varsity some outstanding football players next year, including Randy James, Charles Parks, Ron Swets, Don Framback, Bob Bennett and Kurt Madden. 1970 turned out to be a most exciting year for the Jordan Bee's. 152 jay Hagey-Coach orcian 51900195 oly in ffm! seconds I 7-I 4 Our Defense Kellogg breaks tackle ,gshtf s , . , Nickerson tries for first It's great, it's just great, said coach Len Stewart as he greeted a stream of well-wishers on the Jordan High field Friday night. lt's been a long time. This was the statement in the Long Beach I- PT Saturday morning. What happened Friday night was fantastic! With the students backing the Varsity football team, Jordan claimed its first Moore League win over Poly since 1957 when the Moore League was founded and the first league win in 3 years. Poly took a quick 14-3 lead in the first half, but Eggers, George, Kellogg, and the penalty flags killed the Poly rabbits in the second half. With the last minute running the Varsity got the power, and Kellogg put Jordan back on the road to success. 153 1970 Crow Country 1970 proved to be a tougn year for the Varsity Cross Country team. An 0-5 record gave the Panthers a last place finish as they moved out of Moore League. Senior Ed Jones succeeded in salvaging one award: 10th Place in the League Finals. The season's high points came on September 25 and 26. The team's sole victory at the expense of Compton was led by Jones and juniors Dale Grant and John Clifton. Grant came back the following day to place twelfth in the Corona Del Mar Ir1vitational to lead Jordan to a fifth place finish. The 1970 Panther IV Cross Country team came up with some exciting moments during the long season. They were led by senior Joe Donohue, junior Rodney Berg and sopho- more Jeff Preijers, who finished fifth in the Moore League Finals. The team on a whole did well in league competi- tion.
