The new director, or principal. has actually made sure that our course is the same as it has been tor over twenty years-torward. Movement forward is evident in terms ot physical growth. more and bigger buildings tilled with more and better equipment. However. we realize that growth cannot always be measured in terms of numbers and sizes. We are happy that the temporary buildings of earth- quake days are gradually being replaced. Jordan's progress can be seen in the architecture ot the new buildings. They represent the ideals ot our own age: honesty and clean- lined simplicity. Moreover, a glance through the pages of this bool: will bring convincing proof that Jordan plots its course. not by mere physical growth. Important. too, is what our school otters to the youth ot today - the social and intellectual experiences available to all Jordanites. Trailblazer, I957 provides a window through which a viewer may see part of our school. Still. even the clearest window gives an incomplete picture of the lite going on behind it. There is much that cannot be shown. There is much that can be known only by the students and the teachers who lived at David Starr Jordan High this year: it is to them that this yearboolr is dedicated.
