eddm' Every community has its great men, its heroes, its examplers of physical and moral leadership. ln the midst of our thriving city, stands a man who has dedicated his life to service in our school, community, and nation. John W. Wilson, our first principal, opened new horizons to young people, unselfishly pioneering progress. Under this man's devoted leadership Jordan High has grown from a cluster of barrack-like huts surrounded by weeds and mud, to one of the finest schools in the nation. 1 Admiration and respect are not enough to show our deep grat- ification. However, Jordan's growth cannot be thought of in terms of bulidings and facilities only. This year book is only a tangible symbol, but more important are the principles and democratic ideals he has set forth. He has been active in community activities and has struggled for better school facilities and rights of the students. Let it be our solemn pledge, then, to perpetuate this heritage by measuring ourselves against these principles of self direction, concern for others, and straight thinking. Let us develop the appreciations, the knowledges and skills so necessary to democratic living. If we do this, then we will be honoring the man for whom the 1956 Trailblazer is dedicated. We, Mr. Wilson, the students and faculty, will never forget you and your love for freedom and democracy.
