STUDENT COUNCIL Representatives from the student body at large, each second period class, and various extra-curricular activities and student organizations make up the personnel ot the Student Council. Seven ot the nine commissioners are elected trom the student body at large, while the two athletic commissioners receive their office automatically when they are elected presidents ot GAA. and Lettermen's Club. Other representatives are elected by their local groups. The council decides upon student body policies, settles many student body problems, and suggests such things as may be ot benefit to the student body in general. CLASS OFFICERS BOBBY GRAY - - - President OWEN WOOD - - Vice-President JANICE HAUSEWORTH - Secretary SOPHOMORE DAY At the beginning of each semester, Jordan officially welcomes her incoming class to the campus where most of them will spend their next three years. The Sopho- more A's are hosts to the lOB's, aided by the sponsors of the two classes and members of the P. T. A. At a general assembly, leaders of various groups explain the many activities that are carried on at Jordan and attempt to interest these younger students in round- ing out their academic work. This plan has been success- ful in discovering leaders of the new groups. BLAZER STAFF STUDENT BODY STORE TRAIL BLAZER The aim of the Trail Blazer was to present a written and illustrated record of the entire school year. Because the past year has been one of more than ordinary growth and development for Jordan, the publishing of the year book was a task rich in experience for those working upon the staff. STUDENT BODY STORE The regular crowds third period and sixth period that throng the student store for malts, candy, and cold drinks are cheerfully and promptly waited upon. The third period it is an especially popular place for the mid morning i'snack. Row I: Mrs. Bergc, Winitrcd Dunaway, Billic Washmuth, Dorothy Lappin. LIBRARY The class in Library Practice has a two fold purpose, members of this group give valuable service to the school in the performance of the various tasks of library routine, and gain for themselves valuable knowledge of special library tools. Their duties include all the steps in preparing new books for circulation, such as collating for torn and misprinted pages, stamping, shellacking, pasting book-pockets, and filing catalog cards. They also mend books. issue books at the charge desk, check library pass permits. Once a week the group meets as a class to discuss general problems and special indexes and other reference books. In this way students increase their own efficiency and are enabled to use all libraries more easily and effectively. At least once a semester the library group enjoys a social affair. Mrs. Mildred Harrington entertained with interesting book reviews at the Christ- mas party, The program was so enjoyed that Mrs. Harrington was asked to give additional reviews to the library assistants and their friends at the Spring Punch-Tea. lt is planned to make this an annual affair. Although the production in the main was the responsibility of the music department, other groups combined their energies to produce what has probably been the best activity ever staged at Jordan. The ceaseless work of the dramatic, art, clothing, and shop de- partments was indispensable. The voices in the cast were remarkably good in quality and number. There were eighty-three students in the cast.
