Mrs. Cole, Chaudoin, Davis Stress ArtisticValues Edward Short Speech 211 Leabert Rodgers, Edward Short, and Randall Chaudoin have each taught this year's speech class-4'Sell'-expression in soundf, The ability to express ideas clearly and ellectively was empha- sized since oral communication is so essential in todayls world. The reading ol' poems, delivering of speeches, and debating ol? ideas constituted the learnings ol' the class. Under the guidance ol' Mrs. Betty Cole, the art curriculum was planned to give each student a well-rounded background in art appreciation as well as advancement ol' skills. The first semester consisted ol' water colors, tempera painting, pas- tels, and collages. Each student was required to do research on the dillerent styles ol art through the ages. 'l'he second semester the members ol' the art class worked on individual projects. The mechanical drawing class, directed by Jacky Ray Davis, learned the basic lundamentals ol engineering and dralting. Geometrical con- struction, lettering, and sketching were the main objectives ol' this class. Jacky Ray Davis Mechanical Drawin Inspired by Jacky Ray Davis, the mechanical drawing class eagerly put their compasses to work.

Teachers Edif upils Through Bible Courses B A daily Bible class is on the schedule ol? every student attending Lipscomb. 'l'hese classes pro- vide a complete View of the Bible with the classes studying both the Uld and New 'l'estaments. By the completion ol' the twellth grade. all students should have a thorough knowledge ol' the Scrip- tures. 'l'he sophomores begin a study ol' the Old 'Iles- tament, which extends into their junior year. 'l'heir course ol' study starts with the Creation and continues through the Pentateueh. Hubert Law- ing taught the course this year. t xlunior Bible, taught this year by -limmy Dor- ris. completes the Old Testament with a study of l the Divided Kingdom including the prophets and the judges. During the senior year the students obtain a panoramic View old the New 'l'estament with em- phasis on Christian principles.
